She was predeceased by: her brother Gerald Mailand. She is survived by: her husband Joel; her children, Lori Pickett (Dave) and David Hilpert; her grandchildren, Peter, Ashley, Jake and Joe; her great grandchildren, Khira and Aria; and her sister Judy Carlson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Joan's name to Beaver Lake Lutheran Church.
