He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Schmidt and Elsie Schmidt (Ruge); his brother Melvin; and his sisters-in-law, Beverly Smith, Shirley Krogstad and Glenice Schmidt.
He is survived by: his wife Nelda Jean Hasse; his sons, Jeffrey (Amy) of New London and Jason (Lisa) of St. Louis Park; his grandchildren, Jake, Noah, Katie and Ellie; his sister Lorna Ittel (Al) of Brooklyn Center; and his brothers-in-law, James Hasse (JoAnn) and Bruce Smith. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
