He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayne Bigelow and Wilma Bigelow (Munson); his sister Barbara; and his brothers-in-law, Don Sandell and Phil Fitterer.

He is survived by: his wife Julie Ann Skogen; his children, Jeremy (Tara), Tony (Jennifer), Melissa (Aaron Swarts) and Benjamin; his grandchildren, Katlyn, Madison, Logan, Abigail, Kailey, Jace, Ashlyn, Noah, Gabe, Max, William and Rowan; and his siblings, Sherrill Sandell, Bonnie Fitterer, Wallace (Faye), Bruce (Ramona), Randy, Jerome (Darlene) and Mark (Lavone).

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Joel Bigelow Memorial Scholarship Fund, 4057 28th St NW, Rochester, MN 55901, to benefit those with interest in careers in the construction industry.
