He was predeceased by: his parents, Royston Gerald and Lucille Carpenter Coomes; his brothers-in-law, Keith Wenzel and Daniel Payne; and his nephew Jason Payne.
He is survived by: his wife Sally Payne August; his children, Brian Arthur (Lynne) of Miami, FL, Bradley Daniel (Mary) of Plymouth, MN and Barbara Langley (Ed Jolly) of Englewood, CO; his grandchildren, Alexandra of Gainesville, FL, Stephen of Miami, Margot, Anders, Paige and Chelsea Langley; his sister Judith Wenzel; his sister-in-law Juanita Payne; and his nieces and nephews, Debra Cargo, Tracy Payne, Jay, Karl Wenzel and Daniel Payne Jr. Roger.
A future memorial service for Roger will be held at First Presbyterian Church with burial at Kerns Cemetery when COVID-19 concerns abate.
Memorials may be given to MNSU Mankato Roger Coomes Biology Scholarship, Minnesota Elks Youth Camp Scholarships, or VINE.
