He was predeceased by: his parents, Stafford Phelps and Marion Phelps (Johnson); his wife Ilene; his son Lynden; and his siblings, Genelle and Burton.
He is survived by: his children, Christine (Mark Martinez) of St. Paul, MN and David (Phil Mueller) of Milwaukee, WI; and his siblings, Dale (Ruth Sanford) of Bloomington, MN and Lois Jaime of Winslow, AZ..
Memorials may be given to the Zion Lutheran Church (Lake Crystal) Scholarship Fund, the Le Sueur River Lutheran Church (New Richland) Cemetery Board, or the Pontoppidan Lutheran Church (Ellendale) Cemetery Fund.
