He was predeceased by: his daughter Susan Bittner; his brother Robert Koehler; his grandsons, Adam Kindelspire and Aaron Kindelspire; his parents, Arthur Koehler and Florence Koehler (Broders); and his wife Mildred Sauer.
He is survived by: his children, Debora Kindelspire (Del) of LaMoure, Sarah Koehler of Mankato, Thomas Koehler (Lucy Smith) of Santa Fe, Stephen Koehler of Buena Park and Brian Koehler of Fargo; his grandchildren, Andrew Buck and Alexandra Bittner; and his sisters, Cathryn Hahn of Tuscon and Marion Koehler of Hopkins, Minnesota. He is also survived by five great grandchildren.
