She was predeceased by: her father Kenneth Schmitz; her nephew Jared Dick; her grandparents, Leila and Wesley Lentz; and her uncle Charles Lentz.

She is survived by: her children, Kali Gardner (Jesse Mollner) and Tyler Schutte (Laura); her mother Rose Kinghorn (Marv); her aunt Judy Lentz; her sisters, Lori Dick (Russ) and Jennifer Koenig (Scott); her niece Stephanie Ferrian (Travis); and her close friend Joe Fredrick.

After driving back home through the destruction, she had already made a plan to get a truck and collect any and all donations needed for the community.
