Though Leona may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Theis and Magdalena Theis (Schreifels); and her husband George J. Schmal. She is survived by: her children, John Schmal, Kate Podegracz of California and Mary Warden (Max) of Mankato. She is also survived by five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and six siblings.
