He was predeceased by: his wife Marlys Roepke of Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church; his parents, Gottfred Nelson and Alice Nelson (Peterson); his parents-in-law, William and Ella Roepke; and his siblings-in-law, Lola, Elmer Gag, Don Kettner and Vreela Nelson.
He is survived by: his daughters, Kathleen Gappa (Rick) of Nicollet, Peggy Dorn (Gary) of Faribault, Susan Nelson of Mankato and Wendy Nelson of St. Peter; his brothers, Narve Nelson and Thorild Nelson (Ardith); and his sister-in-law LaDonna Kettner. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church (201 N State St, New Ulm, MN 56073). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:15 PM at the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery (201 N State St, New Ulm, MN 56073).
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church or the donor's choice.
