He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick "Fritz" and Amanda "Jane" Dehning. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen M. King of Cambridge; his brother Bruce; his sons, Christopher and David; his daughter-in-law Mara; his grandchildren, Michaela and Mark Dehning; and his stepgrandchild Degidio.

Memorials are preferred to either the Alzheimer's Foundation of America or the Minnesota Knights of Columbus, St. Peter Council.
