He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Nellen and MaryAnn Nellen; and his siblings, Herman Nellen, Francis Nellen and RuthAnn Rowell.

He is survived by: his wife Karen Nellen; his children, Aaren (Angie) and Janel; his sister Nancy Kleinert (Gene); and his grandchildren, Shelby, Wyatt Nellen and Locke Pfannebecker. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
