She was predeceased by: her parents, Ervin Peterson and Marie Peterson (Goble); her close friend Jerry Baker; her grandson Konner Melvin; her brothers, Leonard Peterson, Darrell Peterson and Robert Peterson; her brother-in-law Gilbert Hoppe; and her nephew David Peterson.
She is survived by: her former husband Warren Melvin; her children, Ricky Melvin (Tammy) of Mankato, Susan Rutten (Mark) of Mankato, John Melvin (Jackie) of Mankato and Lori Manley (Tim) of Mankato; her siblings, Duane Peterson (Arlene) of St. Peter, Ruby Archer (Daniel) of St. Peter and Linda Hoppe of North Mankato; her sisters-in-law, Helen Peterson of St. Peter and Velora Wilson of Lincoln, NE; and her grandchildren, Nicole Haley (Bryan), Ryan Melvin (Mercy), David Brand, Heidi, Nicholas Rutten, Kara and Kylie Melvin. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
