She was predeceased by: her parents, Peter Ewert and Bertha Ewert (Eitzen); her husband James O. Burkel; her son Jeffrey Burkel; her grandchildren, Ellyn and Tucker; her great grandchild Cora; her son-in-law Bradley Cross; and her sister Betty Adams.
She is survived by: her children, Jon Burkel (Cindy) of Mchenry, IL, Gregory Burkel (Barbara) of Mankato, Kimberly Cross of Flowers Mound, Ann Henning (Todd) of Rockton, IL and Lisa Ciesielski (Kevin) of Robins, Iowa; her grandchildren, Adam (Jodi), Jason (Julia), Jana, Audrey, Peter (Anne), William (Melissa), Thomas, Anna, Brent (Kirbe), Jeffrey (Elise), Erin, Tyler, Aaron, Carson, Megan, Mark, Michael and Matthew; and her daughter-in-law Barbara Burkel. She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren.
