He was predeceased by: his parents, Clinton E. Barfknecht and Mabel M. Barfknecht (Ahlstrand); his brother Ray; and his stepson Darrell Long. He is survived by: his wife Kathy "Sunshine"; his daughters, Mary Ellen Sowada (Keith) of Rice and Missy Slavich (Tony) of Gilbert; his stepdaughters, Debbie Larsen (Jon) of Bemidji, Kimberly Rando of Crawfordsville, Ind and Marcy Schreiner (Mark) of Eveleth; and his grandchildren, Cole, Elka Sowada, Caden and Sophie Slavich. He is also survived by step-grandchildren and nieces.

Memorials are preferred.
