He was predeceased by: his parents, William Janisch and Bessie Janisch (Jordahl); his brother William Bruce; his parents-in-law, Bill and Bernice Bruggeman; and his brother-in-law Bill Bruggeman, Jr..

He is survived by: his wife Kathy Bruggeman of Mahnomen; his daughters, Nicole Janisch of West Fargo, ND and Carla Otten (Craig) of Detroit Lakes, MN; his grandsons, Cade Gene and Chance William Otten; and his siblings, Don Janisch (Connie) of Coon Rapids, MN, Sheila Kramer (Bill) of Indianapolis, IN, Mary Jo Conrad (Ken) of Stillwater, MN, Joanne Revier (Larry) of Dilworth, MN, Connie Bruggeman of Mahnomen, Colette Kemper (Mike) of Mahnomen and Colleen Holweger (John) of Moorhead, MN. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
