He was predeceased by: his parents, Gladys Symens (Trei) and Arthur Symens; and his brothers, Delbert, Marlyn, Dale and Ervin Symens.
He is survived by: his mother-in-law Carole Meester; his wife Fern M. Symens of Madison Lake, MN; his children, Cathryn Cole (Brett) of Mondovi, WI, Michelle Kawohl (John) of Woodbury, MN, Chad Ouverson (Vidya) of New Prague, MN and Shelly Peterson (Tom) of Apple Valley, MN; his grandchildren, Anna Duncan (Chris), Jaelene Cole, Connor Cole, Chandler Peterson, Lauren Peterson and Morgan Peterson; his siblings, Burdell Symens (Marlys) of Windom, MN and Elaine Rypkema (Richard) of Hot Springs, AR; and his sisters-in-law, Maxine Symens, Sharon Symens, Pam Symens and Mary Meister. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
