He was predeceased by: his wife Ruth; and his son-in-law Rich Ruch. He is survived by: his children, Brenda Ruch of New Ulm and Terry Peterson of Madelia; his grandchildren, Nick Ruch (Nikki), Tony Ruch (Kayla), Paul Ruch (Korynn) and Kendall Peterson (Kate Schmit); his great grandchildren, Lane, Boyd, Harper, Vera, Damian, Luella and Roslyn Ruch; and his siblings, Jeri Peterson, Bette Kochanski and Gary Peterson (Alice). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church, Madelia.
