He was predeceased by: his parents, Edmund Schmitz and Irene Schmitz (Hageman). He is survived by: his niece Kelli Schmitz (Charbel Abou Merhy) of Minneapolis, MN; his nephew Curt Schmitz (Jennifer Hernandez) of Pocatello, ID; his brother Gerald Schmitz; and his nephews, Jeff Schmitz and Jon Michel Schmitz.
