He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Nelson and Rose Nelson (Matts); his children, John Nelson and Brenda Melin; and his brother Clarence Nelson.
He is survived by: his wife Lucille (Eide); his children, Gail Thompson (John) and Dale Nelson (Kristin); his grandchildren, Christopher (Leah), Caitlin (Caleb), Lee, Brett and Lauren (Zac); his great grandchildren, Elara, Reid, Nora, Carter, Maverick, Natalie and Jaxon; and his sister Virginia Thompson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Zoar Lutheran Church.
