He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Chapin and Clara Chapin (Steffen); his wife Evelyn Platt; his son Jack Chapin; and his sister Ramona Hagen.
He is survived by: his children, Robert 'Bob' Chapin (Tammie) of Osakis, Ron Chapin (Lisa) of Long Prairie and Patty Chapin of Alexandria; and his grandchildren, Jesse, Jack, Stacey, Aaron, Kelly, Samantha, Christian and Maggie.
