He was predeceased by: his parents, Mike Bruder and Henrietta Bruder (Claseman); his wife Viola; his siblings, Lila Friedrichs, Laverne Messer and Laurel Bruder; and his brothers-in-law, Art Friedrichs and Dave Messer.

He is survived by: his children, Sandy Zigan (Ron) of Browerville, Alan Bruder (Cindy) of Long Prairie, Steve Bruder of Long Prairie, Mark Bruder of Long Prairie, Kathy Robideau (Gordy) of Princeton and Rachel Poegel (Mark) of Long Prairie; his sister Elaine; his siblings-in-law, Eugene Holmquist and Kathy Bruder; and also Viola Nees. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 18 great granchildren.
