He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Mikel and Merlie Mikel (Demars) of Browerville, Minnesota.; his children, Sharon and John; his wife Barbara Eggerth; his grandson Darryl Kingbird Jr.; his brothers, Frank Mikel and Richard Mikel; his niece Cindy Hedlund; and his nephew Matt Mikel.
He is survived by: his children, Michelle Opsal (Jeff), Mike Mikel (Donna) and Jeff Mikel (Kathy); and his siblings, JoAnn Hedlund and Eugene "Patrick" Mikel. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
