He was predeceased by: his parents, George Swanson and Ella Swanson (Fregin); and his siblings, Irene Anderson, Arlene Meachum and Harry Swanson.

He is survived by: his wife Joyce Swanson of Little Falls; his children, Brad Swanson of Fort Ripley, MN, Mindy Day (Tony) of Hanover, MN and Lisa Swanson of Fort Myers, FL; his grandchildren, Jordan Buffington, Brianna Buffington, Jayden Day and Jarrett Day; and his sister Gloria Birchem of Little Falls.
