He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Nistler and Hildegard Nistler; his wife Irene T. Nolz; and his siblings, Leroy, Lloyd Nistler and Geraldine Hogan.
He is survived by: his children, Yvonne Mathias (Philip) of West Fargo, ND, Karen Brouillette (Richard) of Greenville, NH, Paul Nistler (Angie) of Bemidji, MN, Mark Nistler (Lesley) of Minneapolis, MN and Lisa Hested of Starbuck, MN; his grandchildren, Matthew Mathias, Elizabeth Twedell (Tom), Lauren, Rachael, Nicholas (Kathryn), Mark, Patrick, Joseph, Maria Brouillette, Bronson, Brenton Nistler, Noah, Addison Nistler and Samuel Hested; his great grandchildren, Leo and Zelie Brouillette; and his brother Stanley Nistler of Louisville, KY..
