He was predeceased by: his father John; his sister Karen Tuman; and his brother-in-law Bob Rueckert. He is survived by: his wife Robin DeSmith of Litchfield; his children, John DeSmith of Willmar, Joshua DeSmith (Samantha) of Litchfield, Steven Thomsen (Kenny) of Plymouth, Aaron Thomsen (Emily Streich) of Willmar and Carley Thomsen (Jeremy Kuperus); his grandchildren, Arik, Jaxen, Ellyahnna, Jordyn, Liam, Axel, Tegan, Josaphine, Ellia, Jenna, Jason, Chris, Caramon, Conner, Cheyanne, Colton and Jaden; and his siblings, Pat Rueckert of Waconia, Randy DeSmith (Tami) of Manasses, VA, Gary DeSmith (Kay) of Cokato and Scott DeSmith (Deb) of Litchfield. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
