He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Valiant and Orella Valiant; his siblings, Patricia Mortenson and Lee Valiant; and his siblings-in-law, Holly Valiant, Ruth Valiant and Ralph Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Josephine (Brulla); his children, Jerry Valiant (Bobbi Jo) of Manannah, Melissa Sackett (Paul) of Watkins, Stephanie Valiant (Alex O'Neill) of Forest City and Joseph Valiant (Jackie) of Forest City; his grandchildren, Alex, Riley, Isaak, Lukas, Jennifer, Jessica, Dawson, Devonte and Hudson; his brother Donald Valiant (Betty); and his brother-in-law Lowell Mortensen. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
