He was predeceased by: his parents, Victor LaPlante and Rose LaPlante (Vacek); and his siblings, Margaret, Rita and Austin.

He is survived by: his siblings, Harold LaPlante (Mary Lou) of Duluth, Dale LaPlante (Helen) of Litchfield, MN and Mary Jo Edwards (Wes) of Litchfield, MN; and his brother-in-law Clarence Amos of St Paul. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
