She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Dr. Kenneth Neldner and Lillian Neldner of Lewiston, Minnesota.; her sisters, Marabeth Cooper and Linda Sheridan; her former husband Tom Gadek; her daughters, Emily and Kate Gadek; her friends, Paige Garnett, Joanna Chinen, Jean Florman, Dicky Allison, Beth Leuck, Mollie Messimer and Kathy; and also, Caroline Krewson, Jim, Winnie Szetzo, Kaiser, Marianne Bond and Dr. James Lee. She was also cherished by Mom, as her daughters and their friends.

And, as she often reminded people, she would have been in charge of the response to a second global pandemic - COVID-19 - if she hadn't retired a few years back.

“Deepest condolences to Emily, Kate, Tom, Beth and Linda for your terrible loss. I have many good memories of my times with Kathy as freshman year roommates at CU, and when I took her back to Maine with me for a vacation when we were 19, as well as the misadventure filled Spring break 1971 trip to San Diego and back. And she was on the forefront of the AIDS epidemic as well, I am very proud of her for that. I will hold all of you close in my heart October 7th. Martha Lloyd”
