He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Haala and Beatrice Haala (Hillesheim); his brother Bruce Haala; and his nephew Brian Wenisch. He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Fontaine; his daughter Tamera Berning (Nick); his grandchildren, Andy Berning (Katie) and Amy Benoit (Marcus); his great grandchildren, Jeremiah, Carly, Ella, Wyatt and Joe Berning; his sister Patti Wenisch (Norbert); and his aunt Donna Mae Schneider (Donald). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
