He was predeceased by: his parents, William Mentjes and Theresa Marie Mentjes (Pretzsch); and his sisters, Esther Vyskocil (Henry), Margaret Quiram (Noel), Elinor Richter (Robert) and Rosemary Brauneis (Charles).
He is survived by: his wife Kathy; his children, Mark Mentjes (Shawn), Ronald W. Mentjes (Nicole), Ursula Bartram (Timothy) and Anna Bukowski (Matthew); and his grandchildren, Cassandra Mentjes, Derek Mentjes, Logan Mentjes, Lucca Bartram and Wilhelm Bukowski. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
