He was predeceased by: his parents, John Berger and Helen Berger (Knopf); and his sister Joyce Stremski. He is survived by: his sisters, Mary Jo McKenzie of Montgomery and Carol Hanson of Mankato. He is also survived by 3 nieces, 6 nephews; many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
