He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred F. Vavra and Anna Vavra (Holey); his wife Marlys Vavra; and his siblings, Fred Jr. Vavra, George Vavra, Ben Vavra, Milo Vavra, Stanley Vavra, Lucille Schmidt and Geraldine Lerbs.

He is survived by: his daughters, Deborah Waldriff of Le Center and Linda Forbes (Greg) of Chatfield; his grandchildren, Jennifer Waldriff, Jason Waldriff, Jeffery Waldriff, Gretchen Forbes, Ryan Forbes and Clinton Forbes; his great grandchildren, Dayla, Tyler, MiKayla, Riley, Isaac and Owen; and his sister Shirley Kopet of Shakopee.
