He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Wendt and Amanda Wendt; and his siblings, Adehlia Lamprecht, Elizabeth Anderson, Arlene Rengstorf, Rosella Buddensiek, Dorothy Coulter, Helen Fischer, Ruth Kersten, Arthur, William, Wilbur and Arnold Wendt. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
