He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Swanson and Lorraine Swanson (Peterson); his parents-in-law, Barbara and Bob Freer; his sister Irene Whitlock (George); his brother-in-law James Patterson; his aunt Donna; and his uncle Omar Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Valerie Rose Freer; his daughters, Kim Schock (Rod) and Anita Burnside (Jerry); his grandsons, Ryan Schock (Holly), Riley Schock, Zaine Perkins (Kayla Carter), Lucas Burnside and Kallob Burnside; his great grandchildren, Mia and Jaxon Burnside; his sisters, Connie and Betty; and his siblings-in-law, Neal Freer (Paula) and Gleeann Pendleton (Randy). He is also survived by his two nieces and two nephews.
