He was predeceased by: his siblings, Alvina, Velma, Marcy, Arlene, Vern, Mervin and Faye.

He is survived by: his wife Janice Johnson; his children, Steve Mikkelson (Becky), Sherri Hunt (Daniel), Naomi Berntson (Scott) and Scott Mikkelson (Karen); his grandchildren, Jeremy, Matthew, Christopher, Angela, Andrea, Casey, Josiah, Marah, Dinah, Isaiah and Keturah; his great grandchildren, Claire, Wyatt, Bailey, Eli, Ethan, Audra, Oliver, Lillian, Addison, Mason, Marrin, Clara, Orrin, Royce, Tobias, Asher, Macie and Gracelyn; his brother Richard Mikkelson; his siblings-in-law, Pam Cossette, Meryl Johnson and Bryce Johnson; and his granddaughter Laura Kay. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorials will be given to the Lake Park American Legion, Lake Park Fire Department and Lake Park Lutheran Church.
