He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Smith and Della Smith (Kramer); his wife Ruthetta; and his siblings, Betty Weinard, Ethel Burnett, Frank, Wayne and Rodney.
He is survived by: his children, Joanne Gladden (Ted) of Green Valley, Dennis Smith (Jean) of Lake Lillian, Janine Johnson (Jim) of Des Moines and Doug Smith (Linda) of Phoenix; his brother Kenneth Smith of West Liberty; and his sister-in-law Betty Smith of West Liberty. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
