He was predeceased by: his parents, Chris Karels and Martha Karels (Mangelsen); and his siblings, Ann Gore, Joyce Weingartz, Ida Kahrer and Nick Karels.
He is survived by: his sister Dorothy Maurer of Lake Crystal. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
