He was predeceased by: his parents, Lorne McDonald and Marcella McDonald (Rogness); his wife Jean Hollman; his son Brett McDonald; and his siblings, John, Chuck, Fay, Florin McDonald and Adair Dahman.

He is survived by: his children, William McDonald (Debb) of St. Peters, MO and Lorna McDonald of Duluth; and his sister Marcy Hostager of Woodbury, MN.. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren.
