He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Hanks and Bertha Hanks (Weber); his wife Rita Hanks (Svoboda); his brothers, Irvin Hanks, Lawrence Hanks and Bernard Hanks; and his granddaughter Sarah.
He is survived by: his children, Sue Holicky (Tom) of Le Center, Joan Keskee of Eagle Lake, Margaret Jabas (Mike) of Kilkenny, Lois Atchley of Mankato and Duane "Butch" Hanks of Grafton; and his sister Maureen Erickson (Glenn) of Wisconsin. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.
