He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Schwanz and Doris Schwanz (Becker); his brother Gerald Schwanz; his grandparents, Herman, Anna Schwanz, Oscar and Matilda Becker; his father-in-law David Schaefer; and his sisters-in-law, Ann Marie Schaefer and Carol Schaefer.
He is survived by: his wife Karla Schwanz of St. James, Minnesota; his sons, Michael Schwanz (Brooke) of Bloomington and Daron Schwanz of Savage, Minnesota; his grandchildren, Oliver and Fiona; his mother-in-law Marlene A. Schaefer of Raeford; his stepmother-in-law Ruth Schaefer of Winona, Minnesota; and his siblings-in-law, Steven Schaefer of Austin, Donald Schaefer of Edgemont, Carl Schaefer of Plymouth, Minnesota, Carol Johnson (Mark) of Raeford, Karen Brown (Colin) of Fort Dodge and Jeanne Schwanz of Jamestown. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
