He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Smith and Mable Smith (Reynolds); his wife Rita Smith (Schwankl); and his siblings, Laurence, Jesse (Jack), Henry (Hank), Bert, Florence, Edith Bergren, Doris Aulich, Linda Fouts and Susan Gimse.
He is survived by: his foster son Arthur; and his granddaughters, Jane Bedell (Arden) and Cheryl Klapmeier (Dennis).
