He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben DeCoteau and LaRose DeCoteau; his grandparents, Robert, Mary Alice St (Norquay), Fred and Philomene DeCoteau (Azure); his siblings, Kenny, Leslie, Wesley DeCoteau and Ella'Susie'Davis; his siblings-in-law, Allen'Kumish'Davis, Dennis Counts, Darrold Krumweide, Richie Lindquist, James'Smiley'Belgarde, Kim DeCoteau and Patricia DeCoteau; and his nieces and nephews, Billie Jo DeCoteau, DeAnn Krumweide, Rhonda DeCoteau, Danielle Swain, Jennifer DeCoteau, Jody DeCoteau, Benjamin Gene DeCoteau, Ben Patterson and Brandon Stewart Jr..
He is survived by: his children, Alysha Ficken of Isanti, MN, Lisa Cavanaugh (Carl Charette), Tina Beston (Jesse Greatwalker), Gary Joe Beston (Tara) of South Heart, ND, Earl Dale Gooden (Michelle), Gailian Belgarde (Collin) and Chad Tooke; his girlfriend Elaine "Poopsie" Ficken of Isanti, MN; and his siblings, Earl'Ducks'DeCoteau of Flandreau, SD, Raphael DeCoteau (Carla) of Dunseith, LeRoy DeCoteau (Wendy) of Dunseith, Gene DeCoteau (Kim) of Dunseith, Terry DeCoteau (Myrna) of Dunseith, Betty Swain of Dunseith, Shirley Belgarde of Dunseith, Lolly Lindquist of Dunseith, Dean DeCoteau of Dunseith and Esther DeCoteau of Dunseith. He is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren.
