He was predeceased by: his parents, Gordon Hicks and Marguerite Hicks (Rathbone); his daughter Cindy Butts; and his brother Gordon Hicks. He is survived by: his wife Marleys; and his children, David Hicks (Ann) of Minnetonka, Steve Shafer (Jodi) of Lakeville, Rick Shafer (Terri) of Crosby, Robyn Wagner of Maple Grove and Nikki Wassen (Kevin) of Crosby. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
