He was predeceased by: his parents, Maurice Smith and Wava Smith (Herrin); and his stepfather Gene Gries. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Luukkonen; his children, Luke Smith (Daynita) and Lisa Mangan (Travis); his grandsons, Owen Smith and Mangan; and his sister Maureen Olson (Tom). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
