He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Butler and Eleanor Butler; his wife Sandra L. Butler; his son Eugene D. Butler; his brother Ron Butler; and his sister-in-law Sharon Butler.

He is survived by: his children, Kim Kinsella (Keith), Jeff (Jeanne), Wendy Sheridan, Melinda Arneson (Mark) and Jim Peterson (Wendy); his siblings, Robert (Marlene), Linda Groves (Wayne), Donna Irestone (Mike) and Tom; and his close friend Larry Carpenter. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
