He was predeceased by: his parents, John Briggs and Mildred Briggs; his wife Joy; his siblings, Clayton "Jack" and Fern "Sis" Thompson; and his daughter Diana.
He is survived by: his children, Brian (Kallie), John (Teresa), Linden (Melanie), Derek, Sandra Jean (Scott) and Michele Dahlin (Jeff); his sisters, Judy Bernard (Wayne) and Linda Epley (Ron); and his sister-in-law Brenda Haney (Tom). He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
