He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernhard Schmeling and Ida Schmeling (Schroeder); his wife Dorothy Schmeling; his daughter Mary Schmeling; his grandson Chad Schmeling; and his sisters, Hazel Dahlke (Lloyd), Phyllis Stern (Henry) and Janet Lietzau.
He is survived by: his sons, David Schmeling (Lori) of Minneapolis, MN, Brian Schmeling (Christine) of Hutchinson, MN and Craig Schmeling (Megan) of Hutchinson, MN; his grandchildren, Paul, Anna, Peter, Ingrid, Andrea, Eric, Taylor and Jennifer; his great grandchildren, Luella, Freyja, August, George, Lucia, Hank, Rose, Camden, Callie, Ariana, Leo and Luca; his brother Louis Schmeling (Arlene) of Hutchinson, MN; and his brother-in-law Vern Lietzau of Hutchinson, MN. He is also survived by Many other relatives and friends.
