He was predeceased by: his parents, Adolph Schumacher and Agnes Schumacher; his children, Rebecca and James; his parents-in-law, Emil and Lydia Brueggemeier; his brothers-in-law, Orville Brueggemeier, Roger Brueggemeier and Hilton Born; and his nephew David Born.

He is survived by: his wife Arlene Schumacher of Hutchinson, MN; his sons, Steve Schumacher of El Segundo, CA and Jeff Schumacher (Linda) of Lester Prairie, MN; his stepgranddaughters, Nicole Snavely (Corey) of Woodbury, MN and Samantha Lind (Doug) of Glencoe, MN; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Hunter Lemke (Grace), Keegan Lemke and Lydia Lemke; his sister Betty Born of Waconia, MN; and his sisters-in-law, Diane Swanson (John) of Annandale, MN, Audrey Brueggemeier of New Germany, MN and Mary Sloan (Frank) of Watertown, MN. He is also survived by Many other relatives and friends.

Memorials preferred to Our Savior's Lutheran Church and Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch in Minot, North Dakota.
