He was predeceased by: his wife Roberta; and his son William. He is survived by: his daughters, Maureen Ellingson, Denise Cosgrove (Jeff) and Kerrie Upenieks (Stephen); his grandchildren, Katherine, Savannah (Tim), Amberlea, Jocelynn, Robert, Mackenzee, Dylan, Parker, Sydney, Elizabeth and Trenton; and his great grandchildren, Daryon, Julianah, Maelina and Ivan.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael's name preferred to American Diabetes Association.
