She was predeceased by: her parents, Genevieve Willegalla and Leonard Karels; and her husband Gary. She is survived by: her children, Chad (Becky), Patrick (Amy) and Bridget Richter (Robert); her grandchildren, Benjamin, Keira, Damian, Finnian, Cecelia and Henning; and her siblings, Jan Karels, Jerry, Wayne and Larry Karels. She is also survived by her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the American Cancer Society.
